Joseph Woodson

Cadet Chief Master Sergeant Joseph Woodson is a 2023 graduating senior from the Civil Air Patrol detachment in Littleton, NH, and is the 2023 recipient of the Capt. Phaneuf Aviation Scholarship. Joseph accumulated over 31 hours towards his private pilot's license at the time of his scholarship award. Joseph is a dynamic forerunner in both academics and athletics. Joseph is ranked in the single digits in his academic graduating class, is a member of the National Honor Society, and is a recipient of the Harvard Book Award (2022). Furthermore, he participated in the CAP National Cadet Special Activity - Powered Flight in 2022 to progress towards his private pilot's license. In addition to his school academics, Joseph is a co-creator of Creative Arts Magazine, a school publication; was a participant in the school's inaugural robotics team; and was a recipient of the Littleton Chamber of Commerce Student of the Year award (2023). Joseph's athletic achievements compliment his academic achievements as well: he was a Silver Fins Club Swim Team member (2019-2023), a USA Swim participant (2018-2020), participated in his school's golf team (2019-2023), and participated in the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Division IV championship team (2021) where he advanced to the individual championship. Joseph is additionally a trailblazer in his extracurricular activities: he has volunteered over 125 hours in community service through various organizations including CAP (2017 - 2023), as a lifeguard and water safety instructor (2020-2023), and with White Mountain Science Inc. (2016-2023) where he developed a STEM laboratory at his local elementary school. His STEM development included roles as a curriculum developer and STEM instructor where he developed lesson plans and educational resources for robotics, laser cutting, and animation. As a CAP Cadet Chief Master Sergeant, Joseph serves as his unit's First Sergeant, acting in a senior leadership role over all other cadet enlisted members. Joseph has been selected to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University for the Fall 2023 semester to pursue an Aeronautical Science degree in the local ROTC program.
