Megan met Ryan in 2013 while working at the local airport. Ryan was a student pilot and flew in while flying the T-6. They got married in Del Rio in 2016. Together, they were stationed at Laughlin AFB, Dyess AFB, and Ellsworth AFB. She lives with their two dogs, Bandit and Peanut.

Megan applied in the fall 2021 to become an officer in the United States Air Force and in the following January, she was selected. She is awaiting her assignment to an Officer Training School class. Previously, she was the Assistant News Director at KNBN - NewsCenter1, Rapid City, SD. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Texas A&M University. She earned her Private Pilot's License in July 2021 and enjoys flying through the Black Hills of South Dakota.

"Throughout Ryan's military career, he emitted so much joy when it came to not just flying, but sharing that passion with others and seeing them grow into adept aviators.  My hope with this scholarship is to allow his legacy to continue to impact future aviators for years to come."
